Juniors Draw
Newport and Borrisokane finished all square in round 3 of the Junior ’B’ hurling championship on Saturday evening in Borrisokane. The home side got off to a good start with a goal in the opening minute. They maintained their superiority in the first half, with Newport, showing 6 changes in their starting personnel from the previous week’s victory over Knochshegowna, seeming unable to establish any rhythm. Borris had a 4-point advantage at the interval, stretching to 6 points within 10 minutes of the resumption. Newport slowly gained momentum and picked off their points, with Peter O’Sullivan (0-12, 8f) particularly to the fore. The teams were level with 29 minutes on the clock. Newport had two further scoring opportunities as time ticked away but they failed to convert, leaving the final score at Newport 0-22 Borrisokane 1-19. Their next game is at home v Portroe on Saturday August 3th with throw in @ 7:30PM.
