Faoi 17’s: Our U 17 hurlers began their North Hurling Championship campaign with an away game v Toomevara on Monday evening. After a slow start, they found themselves 7 points in arrears after 18 minutes., but they upped the ante thereafter, holding Toome scoreless for the remainder of the half and they managed to draw level at 1-10 to 0-13 at the interval. The second half saw tit-for-tat scoring and it was fitting that the teams were level at the final whistle. Final score Newport 1-18 Toomevara 0-21. They travel to Dolla next Monday evening to play Silvermines in Round 2 @ 7:30 PM.
